LOST 10th Anniversay Reunion

lost cast
in Los Angeles will be hosting a cast reunion for the 10th Anniversary of LOST on Sunday, March 16, 2014. (That’s the 10th anniversary from the year the show started — it hasn’t been that long since it finished — though it has been almost four years, which is hard to believe — time flies.)

Scheduled to appear: Josh Holloway (Sawyer), Daniel Dae Kim (Jin), Yunjin Kim (Sun), Jorge Garcia (Hurley), Emilie de Ravin (Claire), Ian Somerhalder (Boone), Nestor Carbonell (Alpert), Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond), Malcolm David Kelley (Waaaaaaaaaalt), executive producer Carlton Cuse, and more.

Carlton talked about the show in an interview posted yesterday on Vulture. He’s still defensive about fan criticism of the ending. “We did the version that we wanted to,” he said. “Damon and I still stand by it. There was no answering-a-million-questions version of the end that wouldn’t have been didactic and awful.”

Whatever your opinion of the ending, the reunion should be an exciting event. For those of us unable to make it to L.A., there were hopefully be video posted on YouTube after the event is over.

LOST link round-up # 1

Round 'em up, ancient Egyptian cowboy!

It’s hard to believe, but we’re heading into the final week of LOST. So exciting and so sad.

The approaching end of LOST has unleashed a torrent of creativity around the internet. Such an excess of riches, and too much to describe everything in individual posts. I’m just going to start posting lists of links to interesting things, as I come across them:

Composer Michael Giacchino was honored in UCLA last night, May 13. The LOST folks at the event taped short tributes to him. They also said a few words about how they felt about the show ending.

Some of these videos have just been posted, so you can be among the first to watch. The videos feature Jorge Garcia (Hurley, still alive despite his red shirt), Michael Emerson (be still my heart) (Ben, who found redemption at last), Daniel Dae Kim (Jin, and fie on the producers for killing him off), L. Scott Caldwell (Rose, who is not Eve after all), Damon and Carlton (who I suppose can still be my boyfriends even though they killed off Sun & Jin right after they got back together), Nestor Carbonell (Richard Alpert, who can ride a horse and is not a vampire), Harold Perrineau (Michaaaaaaaael, last spotted whispering in the jungle), and Sonya Walger (Penny: will she return with her boat for the finale?)

There is also a long profile of Michael Giacchino in the current (May 17) print issue of The New Yorker (only an abstract is available online to non-subscribers).

What if LOST ended like The Sopranos? Or like Saturday Night Live? has imagined the last 10 seconds of LOST, if it were to end like eleven other television shows.

It turns out that Previously on Lost is not the only recap band. There’s another (called, appropriately, The Others), and the ultra-talented Sophie made a video to go along with their song about the Jack-centric episode, The Lighthouse.

More to come.

LOST Schedule Tuesday, April 27, 2010 — Rerun of Ab Aeterno

Update 5/4/10 — The Finale will be extended by 30 minutes

Original post:

LOST Richard Alpert riding horse 6x09 Ab Aeterno

Richard Alpert will ride again on April 27

There’s no new episode this week, just a rerun of the Richard-Alpert-centric episode 6×09 Ab Aeterno. ABC is probably doing this to push the rest of the final episodes into the May sweeps period, which runs from April 29 to May 26.

Here’s the schedule for this week, and for the rest of the season:

Tuesday, April 27, 2010 — 9:00 – 10:02 Rerun of Ab Aeterno

Tuesday, May 4, 2010 — New episode 6×14

Tuesday, May 11, 2010 — New episode 6×15

Tuesday, May 18, 2010 — New episode 6×16. This will be the last new episode before the finale.

Saturday, May 22, 2010 — 8:00 – 10:00 A pop-up hint enhanced rerun of the original pilot!

Sunday, May 23, 2010:

7:00 – 9:00 Clip show
9:00 – 11:00 The Finale! (6×17-18)
(not sure of the time) — A post-finale wrap-up hosted by Jimmy Kimmel

And then …. crickets.

All times are an hour earlier for Central Time, and all times after April 27 are approximate.

Official ABC Podcasts

I’ve been catching up on some of the official podcasts —

March 25 audio podcast

Darlton, punchy after having just finished writing a draft of the finale, rehashed Ab Aeterno, prehashed The Package, considered the possibility that Flocke was not evil — and revealed the title of the finale — on the March 25, 2010 audio podcast.

March 30 video podcast

In this short video podcast, Darlton answered a fan question about whether the fish that Jacob was cooking in the Season 5 finale, The Incident, was, ahem, a red herring.

I love the idea that it was a kind of visual pun, and in fact, someone left a comment on this blog back in September putting forth the “red herring” idea — an idea I found really funny at the time and still do. Alas, in this podcast, Darlton deny that was their intent. But the whole podcast is so jokey, I don’t know if they can really be believed:

April 1 audio podcast

Darlton briefly rehashed The Package, talked about who might win in a Flocke-Widmore showdown, prehashed Happily After Ever, and answered questions about Richard Alpert’s hair, the squirrel baby, and, of all things, grammar. April 1, 2010 audio podcast

April 8 video podcast

In this video podcast, Nestor Carbonell gave a tour of the set of the Black Rock. He talked about how they filmed the scenes there in Ab Aeterno — how they created the illusion of the smoke monster, and how they got the boar, who wasn’t hungry, to gnaw on a body (don’t worry, it was just a dummy). Very interesting!

6×09 Ab Aeterno –Lost Untangled, and the official video podcast

Here’s the “Untangled” for last week’s episode. In honor of the Richard-Alpert-centric episode, Dr. Puppet Chang sports guyliner and a pirate’s hat.

The video podcast features Nestor Carbonell:

Nestor Carbonell (Richard Alpert) talks about “Ab aeterno”

The eyeliner guy talks about the upcoming Richard-centric episode:

Also, here are a couple of official trailers to help whet your appetite even more for the episode:

Nestor Carbonell's Eyes

Alpert, the mysterious character who never ages, will be playing a large role in Season 6.

Nestor Carbonell told TV Guide that he will be appearing in 16 out of the 18 episodes of the final season.

LOST is notorious for not telling the actors what is going to happen in advance, and Nestor says he is “most curious to know” how old Alpert is.

So are we.
