Titus Welliver (LOST’s Man in Black) in “Touch”

Titus Welliver LOST The Incident 5x16

The Man in Black

Titus Welliver played a key role in the pilot of Touch, a role that was all wrapped up in the show’s numbers.  And, according to an interview he gave several months ago, he will be coming back.

If you missed the Pilot, you can watch it now on Hulu.

The numbers … the winning lottery ticket … “Touch” gave me LOST deja vu

The Touch pilot was LOST-like in several ways, with its mysteries, its eerie connections between characters, its explicit mention of fate and destiny and, especially, the way it ripped off (or paid homage to) the LOST numbers — not the exact numbers, of course, but the general idea of them. It’s even got a LOST alumnus — Titus Welliver (the Man in Black) in a crucial guest role (hat tip to Geri in the comments for recognizing Welliver). Continue reading

Review of “Alcatraz” premiere (from a LOST fan perspective)

Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones) meets Diego Soto (Jorge Garcia) in the first episode of "Alcatraz"

The photography in Alcatraz was beautiful, moody, and dark — but it was Jorge Garcia who brought the most life to the show.

When Jorge played Hurley in LOST, he looked so natural that it seemed he wasn’t even acting. But, of course, he was. Being able to appear that natural in the role was a great gift. J.J. Abrams says “Alcatraz” is not LOST

Jorge Garcia and J.J. Abrams at the 2012 Television Critics Association

A few days ago, in a talk at the 2012 TCA (Television Critics Association), J.J. Abrams said that Alcatraz would not be like LOST. Alcatraz, he said, would have storylines that were resolved every week, and questions would be answered quickly.

The TV critics in the room had their doubts about that, according to a critic who was there.

Alcatraz starts on Monday, January 16, at 8 p.m. (7 central) on FOX.

On the LOST set

Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, and Jorge Garcia relaxing on the set

You have to see this. Josh Holloway, Terry O’Quinn, and Jorge Garcia are singing “On the Bayou” while taking a break on the LOST set, sitting under a tarp with fellow cast mates.

The video is by @bethanyshady (Jorge Garcia’s wife), and you can watch it on her Facebook page.
