Official ABC LOST video podcast, featuring Terry O’Quinn

Terry O’Quinn talks about his character Locke and what he calls “the new embodiment of Locke.” He doesn’t call him “not” Locke or “fake” Locke, or anything like that. And he says that while his character is Smokie, he doesn’t know whether or not he is also the Man in Black. Interesting!

Then a fan asks Damon and Carlton what Damon calls a “new iteration” of the common fan question about whether the writers are making it up as they go along. This time, the question is about whether the backgammon scene in the Pilot, where Locke talked about dark and light, and good and evil, was intended to lead to where we are now. Darlton’s answer? Sort of yes, and sort of no.

Locke (the fake one) steals a line from Locke (the real one). Weird!

I thought the strangest moment in “The Substitute” was when fake Locke (aka Flocke, notLocke, unLocke, and the Locke-ness Monster) chases after the blond kid. Fake Locke falls (not unlike the way that Real Sideways Locke falls), and the kid stands over him, and says “You know the rules. You can’t kill him.”

"You know the rules. You can't kill him."

Then fake Locke says, “Don’t tell me what I can’t do.”

The kid shakes his head and walks away.

Then fake Locke points his finger and yells, loudly: “Dont tell me what I can’t do!”

"Don't tell me what I can't do!!"

So why does fake Locke sound exactly like real Locke here? Why is he repeating real Locke’s most famous signature line?

We’ve already seen leakage into the Sideways world. Could there also be leakage into the Island world?  Is that what we saw in this scene?

Or is something else going on?

I listed the possibilities that occurred to me in the poll below. What do you think? Do you have any other ideas?

Here’s the clip:

Second sneak peek for 6×04 “The Substitute” Why are you on this Island?

Wow, this is a great clip. I think this scene may turn out to be one of the show’s all-time classics.

A bit of it was shown in an earlier promo, but there’s more here.

I think it’s safe to watch even if you are trying to be mostly spoiler-free — it’s more of a tease than a spoiler.

It’s got notLocke telling Sawyer he can answer the question of why he is on the Island — and promising that he can prove it.

This looks like it is going to be an amazing episode!

LOST Sneak Peek 6×04 “The Substitute” with Locke — spoiler

This is a short scene from the next episode, featuring Sideways Locke. It shows the Sideways version of something that happened in one of the most memorable LOST episodes ever. Very exciting!

It’s somewhat spoiler-ish, so don’t watch if you want to stay completely unspoiled. Otherwise, enjoy!

Official Season 6 promo poster — enormous blow-up

That’s just one detail of a small area of the poster. See the whole poster on TVOvermind: monster-sized blow-up of LOST promo poster.

It looks as if everyone who has ever been a major cast member is on there, with one notable exception. (Hint: Name starts with W and ends with T.)

The biggest mystery is why is Locke facing away from us when everyone else is facing forward?

Exciting line-up for the Hawaii Film Festival LOST panel

Carlton Cuse tweeted that the special guests have been confirmed:

Michael Emerson (Ben), Jorge Garcia (Hurley), Yunjin Kim (Sun), and Terry O’Quinn (Locke) will all be joining Darlton (Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse) in a panel at the Hawaii International Film Festival on Saturday, October 17.

That should be quite a show! I’m looking forward to seeing the video on YouTube (hopefully, some nice person will post it).

Terry O’Quinn (Locke) singing “If I Loved You”

This has been the first chance I’ve had to post anything since I got back from vacation. And what better way to get back into the swing of things than to put up one of my favorite types of posts — one with a LOST actor singing.

The clip is from The Last to Go, a 1991 made-for-TV movie about a husband (Terry O’Quinn) who abandons his wife. A reviewer in EW gave it a grade of B and wrote:

In theory, a TV-movie soap opera like The Last to Go should be miserable…. But director John Erman (Who Will Love My Children?) understands that it doesn’t matter whether the details of a script are cliched; the execution of them can redeem the banality…. Erman gets a typically intelligent, modest performance from O’Quinn.

The song is “If I Loved You” from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel. O’Quinn does a good job, doesn’t he?

If you like the song, here’s a masterful version from the 1956 film, sung by Gordon MacRae and Shirely Jones:
