Matthew Fox gets lucky, for the most part

Jack, drunk and disheveled, in LOST 3x22 "Through the Looking Glass"

A lot has happened in Matthew Fox’s life in the last month.

Fox got very, very lucky. First, the assault case — filed against him by a female bus driver who said Fox repeatedly punched her when she wouldn’t let him on her private party bus — was dropped. According to EW.com, the bus driver’s lawyer said his client “‘intentionally failed and refused to provide full and timely cooperation and information,’ and … failed to honor an agreement to pay his out-of-pocket expenses.”

Fox got lucky again when he found out he won’t have to serve any jail time for his DUI arrest, though he will probably have to go to alcohol rehab.

Fox’s luck ran out a bit when fellow LOST cast mate Dominic Monaghan (Charlie) tweeted that Fox “beats women.not isolated incidents.often.” Fox said he hadn’t spoken to Monaghan in years and found the comments “baffling.”

According to various news sources, including TMZ, Matthew Fox was arrested in Oregon in the wee hours of the morning on Friday (May 4, 2012) for DUI. He was released later that day. He has go to court in June.

This all started when Matthew Fox may or may not (depending on who you believe) have drunkenly punched a Cleveland bus driver in the private parts when she wouldn’t let him get on her chartered party bus. Prosecutors declined to bring criminal charges, but the bus driver sued.  Then Matthew Fox sued back, claiming he wasn’t the one who punched her. She punched him, he said. He also sued her for defamation.  Now the bus driver has filed a motion asking that Fox’s countersuit be dismissed. Continue reading

A couple of months ago in Cleveland, a 29-year-old female bus driver accused Matthew Fox of repeatedly punching her when she wouldn’t let him get on her bus, which was reserved for a private party. Fox was in town filming the movie I, Alex Cross. Although no criminal charges were filed, the bus driver filed a civil suit against Fox.

Five days ago, Matthew Fox sued her, saying that she was the one who had assaulted him. In addition to suing her for assault and battery, he is also suing for defamation, saying that she lied about what happened.

Just in case this story wasn’t tabloid-worthy enough, Cleveland Channel 5 News is reporting that Fox was in a strip club right before this all happened.

A few weeks ago, a drunken Matthew Fox repeatedly punched a female bus driver after she wouldn’t let him get on her bus, which had been leased for a private party. Or, at least, that was the bus driver’s account of what happened.

Prosecutors started an investigation, but according to ABC News, they decided not to press charges.

The latest info adds bizarre new details to what was already a strange story. The bus driver has filed a civil suit against Matthew Fox for assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The bus driver’s attorney said,”If he had just sent a dozen roses or something like that, this would have been all over.”

Say what?

The attorney also said that he believes Fox is receiving preferential treatment because he is a star — and that he (the attorney) has photos of the bus driver’s injuries.

There were also witnesses at the scene. Police had detained and handcuffed Fox at the time, but then let him go without arresting him.

This happened a few weeks ago, but I just stumbled across the story now.

A 29-year-old female bus driver accused Matthew Fox of repeatedly punching her outside a Cleveland nightclub at 1:30 in the morning on Sunday, August 28. Fox was in Cleveland to shoot a film.

The bus driver said that Fox attacked her when she wouldn’t let him get on her chartered bus, which was reserved for a private bachelor party. She told the Cleveland Plain Dealer, “He smelled like a liquor cabinet, like a bar. I told him, ‘Sorry, buddy, this is a private party. You have to get off my vehicle.’ I told him three times. He never said a word. He just looked at me.”

Fox, she said, started “swinging on her,” bruising her arms, leg, thighs and chest. When he didn’t stop, she punched him in the mouth. He wiped the blood from his mouth, then attacked her again.

In an interview with CNN, she said “He was swinging at my legs and, ultimately, my chest and my crotch area.”

Police on the scene detained but did not arrest him, and they let him take a cab back to his hotel.

A few days later, on August 31, prosecutors started interviewing witnesses to decide whether they would press assault charges against Fox.

And that seems to be all the news that has come out so far.
