It looks like I'm off the big spike, but I'm happy with the traffic I'm getting. It's hard to compare it exactly with the traffic on my today.com blog, because the different stats programs are measuring slightly different things, but (knock on wood) I think I'm almost caught up here with the traffic on my old blog.

It was easier and faster to get back up to speed than I had thought it was going to be. I can go into more detail at some point if you're interested, but just to mention one thing, the Widgetbox network was a big help in getting a quick jumpstart.

Thanks in advance for the link! I sent you an email about the other stuff. I thought your post about renegotiating rights was very good!

I saw the first episode of The Unusuals (the second is on tape, and I'll probably watch it over the weekend), and while I could see it had flaws, I did enjoy it! Hah.

Hey, you can always PM me on Today or send me an email to share your experiences about the blogging thing. I understand sharing it in open comments isn't always the best option.

One thing I will say is that I just put a post in asking if we can renegotiate rights. Jen just mentioned it in one of the threads and it made me realize that some cool stuff I had planned that I hoped might someday blossom into a published-in-the-real-world thing would in fact be owned by Today--not me. They're really asking a lot, offering only PVs and expecting exclusive rights forever. That's way too harsh.

If they don't budge on the rights, I think I may move the Shrine blog, as much as it kills me. I was really starting to build PVs over there and I hate to shift, but I have to do what makes sense in the long term. Gah.

I'm glad you've got some spikes in PVs! I hope you continue to see more visitors...it always takes a bit of time to get back on the radar. When I get the chance I'll add the link to this blog on my TV blog to hopefully get you a hit here and there. ;)

And dude, The Unusuals wiped my brain! You can't like it, I won't let you! :P

Yes, exactly.

And this isn't the first time that they've blamed the bloggers for things that are not the bloggers' fault.

I have a lot I could say about my experiences there, but am not sure what would be the right time or place to say it.

In the meantime, I'm probably going to keep my blogs there on life support by posting one post per blog per month, which apparently is enough to keep them open and earning pennies for traffic.

The timing of this turned out well for me, just by coincidence. Traffic here, which was almost non-existent, took off, all of a sudden, a few days ago, and today I hit my personal-best record. I don't know if it's going to last, or if it's a fluke (there was a surprising amount of interest, which is already tapering off, in the Anubis/Smokey hieroglyphics), but I'm feeling okay about having taken the plunge.

Keep me posted about what you're doing, so I can read your stuff wherever you may be writing it. What would you do without my comments about how "The Unusuals" is really an enjoyable show? Bwahahahaha.

I don't blame you for the move. I'm hanging on for now, but I'm certainly not going to be posting as often as I was before. I'm really annoyed at how they've handled it too. Every post to "smooth" things over has the underlying current of "it's your fault" to it. A little respect for their hardworking bloggers would have been nice.
